Hey Halifax Ultimate!
Now that we are nearing the end of our fall leagues, it is time to look ahead to the winter session. We are changing up our offerings this year and running things a little differently so please read this email carefully and let us know if you have any questions. In particular, please pay attention to the change in locations for offerings and the new registration process we are trialling.
Winter 2026 Offerings
Monday Night – Team Entry 4v4
To accommodate more players in our single-gender leagues, we have moved those offerings to Tuesday night, and have moved our usual team entry option to Monday nights. Unfortunately this means we cannot accommodate a 6v6 league, which we know is disappointing. We will be sure to offer a 6v6 turf option in the spring session so that you can still get your fill of full field ultimate in a few months! For now, we hope you enjoy playing this 4v4 mixed team entry league on the best courts in the city. It will be run just like the current Monday night offering, which we know you all love.

- Jan 5 – March 23 (12 weeks)

- 4v4 mixed, continuous format
- Team entry – room for up to 8 teams
- $950 per team
- Lottery registration open from Dec 4 at 7 pm – Dec 7 at 11:59 pm
Tuesday Night – Men-matching player (MMP) league in partnership with Red Circus Ultimate & Women-matching player (WMP) league in partnership with Salty Ultimate
In the past couple of years, we have sold out of both our MMP and WMP leagues quickly, and in particular we have had overwhelming interest in the MMP league offering. We really hate not having space for all interested players to play, so to address this issue, we are switching things up! This winter season our single gender leagues will be at BMO Soccer Centre on Tuesdays but the format will still be 4v4 so that we can accommodate a lot more people. As usual, we are partnering with two of Halifax’s competitive touring teams, Red Circus and Salty, who will provide great captains and other enhancements to the league.

- Draft entry – room for up to 80 MMPs and 48 WMPs
- $100 per player

What is lottery registration?
In previous years, it has been a mad scramble to register for a league at precisely 7 pm and many players who diligently logged on at that time, still didn’t get in. To address this, we are trying a new system for our most popular leagues. Anyone who wants to register a team for Monday night league, or as an individual for one of our Tuesday night leagues, will have 3 days to do so online. The registration cost will be set to $0 and it doesn’t matter when within that window you register so long as it’s before the cut off time. Once we have all the registrants, if there are more players than spots in the league, we will randomly draw names to fill the spots. That way, everyone has an equal chance of getting in the league and your success isn’t dependent on how fast your internet connection is.
Players will be notified after the registration window closes (Dec 8) if they are in the league (note: we will notify every player, either way), and then we will set up a new event for those successful players to register and pay to secure their spots. You will have a set amount of time (a couple of days) to pay the registration fee and confirm your spot. If you miss this window, we’ll offer the place to the first person on the waitlist (if there is one). We are hoping with the increased maximums for the leagues though, that everyone who wants to play will be able to participate!
Sunday League – Rec 4v4
We will be offering the same Sunday rec league as this fall again in the winter. This league will be shorter (6 weeks) and is the perfect opportunity for players of all skill levels to play. If you have a friend who is interested in trying ultimate, this would be a great option to encourage them to join. It is also our only league with earlier time slots and on the peninsula!

- Draft entry – room for up to 40 players
- $35 per player

Holiday scrim
We are once again hosting a scrimmage over the holidays so people can get out for a run between all the food and presents. Registration is open now online!

Food drive – Last night of Monday and Tuesday leagues
Last but certainly not least, as we approach the holidays, we are aware that this can be a really difficult time for many people. To give something back to our community, we are requesting that players bring a non-perishable food item to their last night of Monday or Tuesday league (Dec 15th and 16th) for the coordinators to collect and donate to a local food pantry.
